Federal Election 2025: 2GB Advertising Proposal
Breaking the grip of the duopoly
The following sets out an advertising proposal to tap into the upcoming federal election to finally break the grip of the political duopoly that is strangling democracy in Australia, through the concept of open democracy.
Open democracy is to the two-party system, what ride sharing was and is to the cab industry. Like the old cab industry, the two-party system is inefficient, wasteful, corrupt and resistant to change.
The grip of the old taxi industry was broken only through the disruption of ride sharing.
Similarly, the grip of the two-party system can only be broken through the disruption of open democracy.

The Advertising Proposal
The advertising proposal consists of a series of 30 second reads by key 2GB presenters (see example below).
The key message will be reinforced in the following key ways by:
- 2GB presenters joining PByT and authoring key questions and issues relating to the election. Like, for example, the question of nuclear energy. The current author is George Matafonov. Under the proposal the author could be someone like Ben Fordham.
- 2GB presenters asking each political candidate they interview the question: Do you support giving all Australians a greater say in government decisions through open democracy?
- The 30 second video of 2GB presenters reading the ads to be promoted on social media.
- Depending on uptake, these ads could form the basis of a TV campaign to run in tandem with political advertising ads in the run up to the election.
The result would finally break the grip of the two-party system in Australia and 2GB would be at the forefront of restoring democracy in Australia.
Promotional Opportunity for 2GB
The 2GB branding and promotion of key presenters would provide an unparalleled promotional opportunity for 2GB to reach out to a younger audience, in addition to raising immediate advertising revenue.
Variations of this ad could include 2GB presenters as well as other prominent Australians.
