Real and Lasting Solutions through systemic change
Ending political partisanship
This will bring to an end the era of political partisanship that has infected every aspect of modern society, preventing civil debate and eroding the credibility of mainstream media to the point that it is no longer seen as the defender of truth nor the cornerstone of democracy.
Technology provides an opportunity to rebuild the common ground as the basis for systemic change that will begin to heal the growing divisions tearing modern societies apart. The rebuilding of the common ground is the world’s greatest challenge and will be driven by a new media landscape, a new political class and by people who are tired of the left/right political divide that taints every issue and every topic, preventing sensible policy and meaningful action. The result will lead to a practical solution to inequality, poverty and disadvantage in all its forms, ushering in a period of peace and prosperity for all, finally.
The idea of systemic change opens a pathway to addressing the myriad of social, political and economic problems and challenges facing the modern world by:
- Empowering people to make better-informed decisions individually and collectively.
- Ending the political polarization and societal division by giving ALL people a greater say in how they are governed.
- Tackling inequality, poverty and disadvantage through the concept of Global Social Capital (GSC), funded by business social responsibility.
- Transitioning from Big Brother style surveillance to self-regulation through online reputation management.
TOWARDS A NEW APPROACH TO DEALING WITH INEQUALITY, POVERTY & DISADVANTAGE
The projected cost blowouts in the provision of welfare and social security in just about every country is proof that a system that relies solely on the public sector is unsustainable longer term.
PByT expands the social obligation of the private sector beyond delivering profits to include the building, maintaining and preserving of social capital through the idea of Global Social Capital (GSC).
GSC represents a rebalancing of the global economy following the economic experiment of deregulation and privatization, which created new efficiencies but also exacerbated inequality, poverty and disadvantage through the failure of trickle-down economics.
BEYOND BIG BROTHER SURVEILLANCE
The inclusion of the private sector through the GSC concept will provide not just a new source of funding, it will also provide the means to eliminate the rorts, scams and government waste through improved decision-making at both the individual and collective levels.
This is achieved through reputation management based on verifiable and analyzable feedback augmented by artificial intelligence.
Reputation management, which is the cornerstone of the success of the gig economy, is a far more efficient and effective way to deal with misbehavior than Big Brother style surveillance.
TOWARDS A NEW POLITICAL CLASS
The current two-party political system served us well but is no longer fit for purpose as predicted by President George Washington in his farewell address in 1796:
"However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion."
It is time to move on from the two-party system to open democracy where ALL people have a greater say in how they are governed not just at election time, or the occasional plebiscite or referendum, but on an ongoing, issue-by-issue basis and on a global scale.
The result will be a new political class that will restore trust in democracy and begin to address the many seemingly intransigent problems and challenges confronting the modern world.
TOWARDS A NEW MEDIA LANDSCAPE
The politics of division and economic realities has created a deeply partisan media landscape.
The campaign will provide an opportunity for the mass media to help rebuild the common ground by using PByT for feedback, analysis and discussion.
This will create a new media landscape where ideas and opinions can be openly and freely debated without people being misrepresented, cancelled or shut down through personal attacks.
The analyzable nature of the feedback will lead to sensible policy, meaningful action and to the rebuilding of the common ground.
This will bring to an end the era of political partisanship that has infected every aspect of modern society, preventing civil debate and eroding the credibility of mainstream media to the point that it is no longer seen as the defender of truth nor the cornerstone of democracy.
TRIGGERING SYSTEMIC CHANGE
Systemic Change can start with the campaign to End the Rorts, Scams and Government Waste that collectively impose a huge cost on society and drain resources from those with the greatest need.
